With the Pure Michigan Bayview Mackinac Race starting in Port Huron on Saturday July 17, 2010, we decided to give you a roundup of all the events that are happening in the Port Huron area in conjunction with the race.

The Blue Water Fest runs from July 15 through July 17 and is comprised of many fun family events:

Parade of Lights, July 17, 2010 at 10.pm: Be dazzled as a parade of boats twinkles over the waters on Black River.

Music on Four Stages, July 15 – 17, 2010: Enjoy an array of country, rock, pop and acoustic music to delight all ears on four stages through the Festival in Port Huron.

Physician Health Care Network Kid’s Zone, July 15 – 17, 2010: Meijer’s Kids Stage, moonwalks, clowns, puppet theater performances, beach parties, ventriloquists, magic show and more!

Operation Transformation, July 15, 2010: Not to be missed, a show by Magician David Yanik.  Other activities include clowns, facepainting, hair wrapping, tumbling demos, and the Port Huron Icehawks in the Majestic Parking Lot.

Art Fair, July 16 – 17, 2010: Over 40 artists will be exhibiting in a variety of media, featuring nautical themes along East and West Quay Street.

Blue Water Film Festival “Movie Tent”, July 16 – 17, 2010: Featuring amateur and classic short films from the silver screen to those locally produced in the Majestic Parking Lot.

The Blue Water Fest, Port Huron, Best Buy Experience, July 16 – 17, 2010: Interactive fun including Rock Band, Nintendo gaming consoles, and viewing station of footage from beneath the St. Clair River.

Make a weekend of it and enjoy the festivities in Port Huron. Follow the progress of the Pure Michigan Bayview Mackinac Coastal course and go boat spotting along the coast line all the way up to the finish in Mackinac.

Make a stop to check out the Tall Ships in Bay City, July 15 through July 17, 2010 to complete your sail away weekend that will be simply Pure Michigan.

Early this morning, the first of the boats began crossing the finish line at Mission Point on Mackinac Island in the Pure Michigan Bayview Mackinac Race.  We are proud to announce that Eagle One, the boat upon which our very own George Zimmermann was crewing, has crossed the finish line, and was the first to do so in their class and the fifth in their division!

Congratulations to the entire crew of Eagle One, and to the crew members of all the participating boats!  Great job, and thank you for a great race!

Pure Michigan’s George Zimmermann is back with a mid-afternoon update from Eagle One in the Pure Michigan Bayview Mackinac Race.  After a slow, calm start to the day, the winds are finally picking up, helping push the boats closer and closer to that finish line on Mackinac Island.  Eagle One is expected to cross that finish line on Monday.

It’s the second day of the Pure Michigan Bayview Mackinac Race, and Pure Michigan’s own George Zimmermann is back with another update.  The racers had a good night – with the exception a brief squall that came through, the weather was fairly calm. 

This race comes with a lot of history – it started in 1925 with only 12 boats.  This year, there are over 200 racing their way north on Lake Huron to Mackinac Island.

The Pure Michigan Bayview Mackinac Race is underway, and Pure Michigan’s own George Zimmermann is aboard Eagle One, and keeping us all updated as they sail up Lake Huron towards Mackinac Island.
