Independence Day

It’s July in Michigan, and that means festivals galore.  No matter where you’re at in our beautiful state, you’ll find a celebration just waiting for you.

On the west coast?  The annual Muskegon Summer Celebration runs through July 5.  This event includes live music, fine art exhibitors, and the crowd favorite Plumb’s Community Picnic, where each food item is only $0.25.

Just a little north of there, the Ludington Freedom Festival features a parade through the downtown area, and ends with a bang – a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Michigan.  Bring your kids – July 3 has a child and pet parade.

Cherry Blossom

Also kicking off on Independence Day weekend a little further up the Lake Michigan coastline is Traverse City’s National Cherry Festival.  The cherry capital of the world hosts its annual celebration of all things cherry.  You can tour the orchards, enter the pie-eating contest, or just kick back watch the U.S. Navy Blue Angels soar high over the West Grand Traverse Bay.

These are just a few of the dozens of festivals and celebrations taking place all over Michigan this month.  Check out our full listing and get started celebrating summer – Pure Michigan style.
