Traverse Citys (Boone's Long Lake Inn) was the best meal we had in Traverse City..We had the biggest and juiciest steaks around. They were the full service restuarant with many great things on the menu.. They offer coupons also. Just a shout out because I thought J.P. Alexanders in Bloomfield had the best steak until I visited this location..We are all still talking about it 3 weeks later..

The best cheeseburger in the state is at Redamak's in New Buffalo. OMG! They are the best - and combined with big. ol' fat onion rings - no wonder they have "Bite into a Legend" on their t-shirts!
The best wet burrito is at the Beltline Bar in Grand Rapids - the corner of 28th and Division. I get one with shredded beef, extra cheese, raw onions on the side, and hot sauce. Yum!

I think you need to try My-T-Fine Pizza in Petoskey. They have the BEST pizza. It's not a sit down place, though. When I was there, a lady ordered a pound of pizza dough! There is a plaque on the wall that shows all of the awards that have been won by My-T -Fine.
Also, the ice cream at House of Flavors in Ludington is very tasty. The creamery is right behind the restaurant. Also, The House of Flavors has roasted turkey just about everyday. It is sooo yummy.

Long ago I had dinner at the Spindrifter in Lansing (or was it East Lansing); I still remember the green goddess salad dressing!

I have no idea if the restaurant is still there and green goddess sadly has gone out of vogue, but if anyone has the recipe please share!

I'd have to agree about Red Coat. It's consistently voted one of the best or THE best burgers in town, but it seems a tad ordinary to me. I agree that Crazy Jim's in Ann Arbor, which you mention in Part 1, is always a beaut, as is the oddly wonderful Roast burger. Speaking of oddly ... a great, straight-up, unadorned burger can be had at Tom's Oyster Bar (a few locations around Metro Detroit). Since I'm starting to trust your taste, Nick, I do have to try the pizza at Rose's next time I'm over that way. Keep up the good work. There's no way you can please everybody, but you have the right approach, and it's a great series.

Alex - I took a lot of heat for this on my blog...A LOT, but I was not a fan of Red Coat Tavern at all. When I talk about the best burgers, I really mean the best burger, not the best sauce. I don't like onions or mayo and since that's what defines Red Coat's burger's, it obviously did nothing for me. A lot of people love them though and they're very passionate about it...I got a lot of hate mail for that review.
