You need to visit the UP in order to get really good home-cooked food that you can't find below the bridge! Cudighi from Ralph's deli in Ishpeming, Lasagna from the Casa Calabria, Breadsticks from the Portside both in Marquette, pasties from the Pasty King and pizza from Pizza Oven in Kingsford. That's real food.

You have some great restaurants listed. We love to see others out there helping the public find the great places to eat. Places like Golden Harvest in Lansing that have one of the best breakfasts. The problem is, if you don't know about it you wont find it.
Thanks!

Another favorite that's nearby . . . if you want delicious authentic Mexican food, at bargain prices, Mexican Fiesta (in Dearborn Heights and Canton) is your place! The "beef tip burrito", covered in cheese, and served with Spanish rice and cole slaw is fabulous!!! Not to mention, freshly fried chips to go with the salsa. And, for those on a budget, it is one of the only restaurants I know of that adjusts the price if you want less items than the order calls for, i.e., the menu price is for 3 burritos, but you can order one and pay a third of the price!

One of my faves is the fresh, homemade strawberry shortcake at one of the little diners on Mackinaw Island . . . served with ice cream! On a very hot summer day, it was the ultimate in refreshment.

Emerson Lake Inn in Walhalla (17 miles east of Ludington) has a peaceful setting on the lake. The dining is casual, moderately priced and delicious. There is indoor and outdoor dining in their screened dining room. Another great fun place is Jamesport Microbrewery in Ludington. Everything is good there including the beer. Jones Ice Cream in Baldwin is a fun stop. Their ice creams are homemade. It is worth the trip. Clementines in South Haven has great food and unique atmosphere in an old bank building. For a true dining experience, the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island has a superb lunch. It is costly but worth the splurge. It also entitles you to roam the hotel & grounds.

The pronto pup stand in Grand Haven has been there for over 50 years and has the best corn dogs, Went last year in a driving rain storm and ordered 25 as it's a tradition when we hit Grand Haven.
